Luminosity Color Dialog

Series Description

Bold, hard-edged color is introduced to black and white textural compositions creating contrapuntal visual poems. The two areas of the work maintain their own disctinct voice while acting together to create a new narrative. The resulting dialog is as energetic as... it is balanced and harmonious.

“Drawn to both abstract expressionism and minimalism, we wanted to bring together antithetical qualities of these two art movements within the same piece — to have gestural, emotionally expressive markings work in collaboration with precise, geometric elements that downplay the artist’s hand. In these new compositions, the two elements hold each other with vital tension, like partners in a dance. Distinctions between lead and follow flow effortlessly back and forth with the viewer’s focus.”

This series expands on the theme of juxtaposition and interaction begun in the Luminosity series. As with that series, these works are custom framed with a 4-way hanging system. The artwork can be rotated and viewed from different perspectives, each view revealing its own statement and energy. Arranging artwork in this series — on their own, in pairings, or groupings — the collector is invited to join in the creative conversation begun by the artist and explore their own visual narrative.
